We operate a key work system which ensures every young person has a named staff member who would work closely with the young person and be their main contact. Keyworkers are matched with the young person and are supported through supervision to develop a nurturing and meaningful relationship whilst maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. At YTS we have a dedicated named keyworker for every young person supported, this allows for consistency and for trusted adult rapport to be built and maintained with YP’s entire stay with YTS. Throughout the young person’s period of accommodation, we will also ensure there is a link worker who will equally work closely with the young person and will support for gaps for periods of time IE- Annual leave sickness. We celebrate the achievements of our young people and maintain an encouraging and supportive environment through the use of positive rewards.
Key work sessions are planned and take place weekly and more when needed. The session is built around the young person YTS works in a person-centred approach with staff with the correct skill sets and qualifications.
Keyworkers would utilise key work sessions to address young people’s identified areas of needs such as NEET, cooking, sexual health, positive relationships, budgeting, employment skills, online safety, confidence building, personal care etc.
